HIV/AIDS Counseling Services
Metropolitan Charities counselors have specific experience and understanding of HIV/AIDS issues. We provide a safe, caring and confidential environment for everyone in the community who wants or needs us. Mental health services are available at no cost to those qualified living with HIV/AIDS.
Psychiatric Services
The Psychiatric Care Program provides services of a mental health therapist and a psychiatric ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner). Participants receive evaluation, medication management and follow-up on a monthly basis.
This service is free to those affected by HIV/AIDS and private pay for other interested parties.
Therapeutic Groups
HIV and Substance Abuse
Therapy groups provide a place where you come together with others to share problems or concerns, to better understand your own situation, and to learn from each other. Many groups at Metropolitan Charities also include a nutritious meal.
Living, Loving, Learning A peer and therapist led discussion group for those living with HIV and those affected by the disease. In Tampa and St. Petersburg
Positive Choices An adult outpatient treatment substance abuse program for HIV positive individuals. Groups are facilitated by licensed therapists and deal with HIV, addiction, recovery, relapse prevention and general life skills. This group is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families. In St. Petersburg
Strength for Living A group for HIV positive individuals. In Tampa
M.E.T.R.O. Reaches Out to People at Risk
The Minority Empowerment Through Risk-Reduction and Outreach Program (M.E.T.R.O.) focuses on harm reduction of substance abuse, thereby reducing the transmission of HIV and Hepatitis.
